Gameplay Bomberman is back! He has to free "Bomberland" from it's dark fate and free the magical sun-sword from it's curse.... Hihi, I think the background stories from most Videogames are really fun, because they have nearly nothing to do with the game ;^)

There are 25 really big levels in 5 worlds.. There are two game modes: The normal game mode and the jump-mode where our hero jumps without stopping. The game is like most Bomberman games, but with an important exception (look in the verdict for further details). At the end of a world you have to defeat the big end-monster which really isn't easy. You can continue at your last stage via password, but especially at end-monsters it can be more easy to start 2 areas before, because if you restart via password it is
without any extras..

There is also a 2-Player mode, but the programmers are really so stupid. This two-player mode only works in a SuperGameBoy (because you can connect two joypads) and there is no link option for two GameBoys.. How sad.. Graphics is ok (really not great) and sound is Bomberman like.

Verdict I really love Bomberman, because of this I nearly have all Bomberman games
for all my video game consoles, and when I saw that "Pocket Bomberman" for the GB was released, I bought it immediately! Maybe this was a fault, maybe this was my luck. At NoEs magazine "Club Nintendo" they printed a report about it one month later... So I couldn't see the special about "Pocket Bomberman": It isn't a normal Bomberman Game, it is a kind of Jump n Run (platform game). You could also say it is Bomberman, not seen from a bird's eye view, but from side-view.

Your Hero looks like all Bombermans, the music is the same and there are
the same specials (more bombs, more range, being faster, ...). In the first weeks, I didn't play it, because I was so disappointed, but when I started I couldn't stop.. It really is a good game... So if you like Bomberman, maybe you should try it, even besides it's side-view. Have a nice game...
