Summary
Gameplay

This being my second RPG game on the GameBoy (the first being The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening), I had quite high hopes for this game. The story in set in the kingdom of Camelot where we find that the evil knight Sir Ruber has stolen the magical sword Excalibur.

quest for camelot

Ruber intends to overthrow King Arthur and take over the rule of Camelot. You take on the role of a young girl named Kayley who turns out to be King Arthur's last hope.

quest for camelot

You set out on a quest to save Camelot. Along the way you will receive help from Merlin, a blind recluse, a two-headed dragon, and a host of other loyal subjects. You will fight real-time battles with knights, snakes, fire-breathing dragons, monster plants and an assortment of other evil thingies.

Verdict I absolutely hated this game when I first started playing it. I hated the save feature that required a certain amount of money in order to save a game. I hated the font used for the messages displayed on the screen. I did not like not having a map to refer to (this was before I picked up the Compass).

But I persevered with the game because I did not have any other games to play and did not regret it. After a few hours of playing, I was hooked.

The puzzles in the game were quite simple to solve. The level bosses on the other hand ranged in difficulty. Some of the bosses were really push-overs, you just had to get them in a certain position and whack away till they were dead. The difficult ones will have you cursing the makers of the game and drive you to the brink of insanity.

In the end, I got a lot of joy from wiping out all the irritating rats, snakes, and especially the difficult level bosses. Overall, the game was a very satisfying play. Its not Zelda but still worth trying out.
